Standard Operating Procedures
Evaluation begins the first day of school and is continuous throughout the year.

New teachers are defined as those with zero to two years of teaching experience.

Veteran teachers are defined as those with three or more years of teaching experience.

The following process is outlined for all teaching staff with differentiation for new teachers.

  1. Self Assessment completed by September 30. (Sharing with administrator/evaluator is left to the discretion of the teacher.)
  2. Initial conference completed by September 30th.
  3. Creation and collection of artifacts. ( September through May)
  4. First round of informal observations begins the second week of September and is completed by October 30th. (There are no limits on the number of informal observations, but feedback is to be immediate.)
  5. Creation of PIP completed for new teachers and reviewed for all other teachers by October 30th.
  6. Continue evaluation process as follows:
    a. Pre-observation conference completed prior to formal observation conference. (Minimum of one day prior to observation.)
    b. Formal observation completed and reduced to writing within five days and copy provided to the teacher.
    c. Post-observation conference completed in a timely fashion following the formal observation, not to exceed five days. (N.J.A.C. 6:3-4.1)

    Note:
    New teachers and non-tenured teachers are required to have a minimum of three formal observations. Veteran teachers and tenured teachers are required to have a minimum of one formal observation per year. Due: November 30th, January 30th, and March 31st
  7. Self Assessment and reflection completed (Sharing with your administrator/evaluator is left to the discretion of the teacher.)
  8. Annual Summative Evaluation and PIP Conference completed by June 1st.
