Hubbard Middle School - Principal's Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.”

Khalil Gibran

Hubbard family, I trust you had a terrific spring break enjoying the time with family. Unfortunately the essence of spring eluded us all during this break but I am confident it will officially make its way into our lives soon enough. This time of year not only signal the start of spring but it also informs us that it is the time of year when all the work we have done up to this point as a school community will soon be assessed via our state’s annual PARCC to determine how much growth our scholars have made in their educational development.

Be advised PARCC will be administer at Hubbard during the week of 23–April–2018 (Lit. & Math Unit 1–24th, Lit. & Math Unit 2–26th, Lit. & Math Unit 3–30th). To assist our scholars in preparing for our annual PARCC assessment, we have posted (HMS webpage) and sent home to parents a one-page PARCC Parent Checklist with “5 Ways to Help Your Child”. We ask that you have your child access the links provided on the one-page document to practice answering the PARCC released-items to get more comfortable and familiar with the structure and format of the test. The document also gives parents links to access and see for themselves the types of questions scholars will have to address as well as insight for parents on the level of rigor associated the PARCC test.

Testing make-up dates will be 25th and 27th of April 2018 and the 1st of May in the mornings for scholars who missed part of testing.

Lastly, the best assist parents and guardians can give is to make sure your child is in school on time (arrive at school by 8:10 AM) to be able to test with his/her peers. Ensure your child gets plenty of rest, eats a good breakfast and dresses in layers for varying temperatures that might exist in some classrooms. A separate testing letter with test specific expectations will be sent home upon our return from spring break.
