Jefferson Elementary - Principal's Corner
Parents/Guardians of Jefferson Elementary School:
Reflecting back on the month of January, Jefferson School celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with students in grades K-3 sharing songs, poems and skits during an assembly program dedicated to honoring Dr. King’s life. We also held a Jefferson night at Liberty Science Center. Students and their families were able to explore many exhibits, and view 3D and IMAX films all for free. The event was a wonderful success. The next PTO sponsored event is the Father Daughter Dance on Friday February 10th. All female students are invited to bring a male figure (dad, step-dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, god-father, etc.) for a night of fun. We hope you will join us. Special thanks to the following parents for doing such a great job with the PTO: Marvis, Gordon, Diana Cunningham, Isabel Porras and Jenell Hobson. Please consider joining the PTO-we need your support.
As we enter the month of February, our students will continue to learn in fun and exciting ways by participating in school wide Black History Month celebrations. Beginning February 22nd all English Language Learners (ELL) will take ACCESS. The ACCESS test is designed to measure students’ levels of proficiency in the following areas: listening, reading, writing and speaking. It is critically important that students attend school each day.
Report cards for 2nd marking period will be distributed during parent teacher conferences (February 14th-February 16th). It is necessary for all parents to attend conferences.
The following students were selected by their homeroom teachers to be January Student of the Month. Continue the excellent work!
Upcoming Important February Events:
Please ensure that students complete all assigned homework and read independently each night. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the school.
