PLAINFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS CELEBRATIONS: Plainfield is excited to have eight of its current eighth graders qualify for first inaugural class of the Kean Scholar Academy this year.  These students will earn college credit during their four years of high school.  They will receive enrichment and support from the Scholar Academy during their high school years to ensure they have a successful college experience upon graduation.

In full transparency we are working daily with our staff, students and community to improve our academic programs.  We have increased our staffing to support the changing demographics.  Professional development of staff to ensure they have the latest pedagogical skills to meet the needs of our students.   

The Plainfield Academy for Arts & Advanced Studies (PAAAS) named Best High Schools in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report’s 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021. PAAAS also earned the Great Schools 2020 College Success Award 

PLAINFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS ACADEMIC PROGRAMS: In addition to the core courses Plainfield Public School offers AP Language & Composition; AP History; AP Spanish Language; AP Biology; AP Chemistry; AP Physics; African American History; History of Racism and Social Justice; Latina Perspective; Criminal Justice; Sociology; Public Speaking; Creative Writing; Social Media; Forensic Science; and Robotics.  Marine Biology will be an addition to the course roster for next year. 

PLAINFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) PROGRAMS:  Allied Health; Marketing; Personal Finance; Web Design; Accounting; AFJROCT; CISCO; Economics; Security Investments; Child Development; Culinary Arts; Fashion Design & Portfolio; Wood Technology; Business Management; AVID; and Visual and Performing Arts.  The student body have a host of electives to choose from. Plainfield extends its school day with enrichment afterschool programs and summer learning camps.
