Prevention of Challenging Behavior: Challenging behavior during the preschool years may include physical and verbal aggression, destroying property, refusing to follow directions, or other behaviors that are hurtful, disruptive, or even dangerous to self or others.  However, many of these behaviors may be prevented by creating a consistent home environment and routine, as well as a warm and supportive relationship with your child. Response to Challenging Behavior: Prevention of many challenging behaviors may occur by creating a consistent environment, and a warm and supportive relationship with your child (see above).  Unfortunately, it is not always possible to prevent challenging behavior during the preschool years.
