Division of Early Childhood
The Division of Early Childhood (DEC) is committed to educational equity by supporting the social-emotional, academic, and physical development of our students and families through access to culturally responsive school environments and high-quality early learning experiences that will support the transition from Pre-K to elementary school and inspire our students to become confident, curious, lifelong lovers of learning.
In order to achieve our mission, we developed a Five Point Strategic Action Plan designed to meet the needs of the Plainfield Public School community as follows:
Goal 1: Culturally Responsive Learning Environments: To ensure that ALL PPSD DEC students & staff have equitable access to developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, holistic learning environments.
Goal 2: Curriculum and Instruction: To ensure that ALL PPSD DEC preschools have equitable access to a high quality instructional program designed to improve the quality of teaching and increase learning outcomes.
Goal 3: Department Operations: To create sustainable organizational systems to support the successful operation of the Division of Early Childhood and its partner preschool providers.
Goal 4: Family Education and Community Engagement: To create a robust parent education program and comprehensive support system for ALL PPSD DEC families and caregivers.
Goal 5: Health and Wellbeing: To increase access to physical and mental health support and resources for ALL PPSD DEC children and families.
