graduation 2024

PLAINFIELD, NJ â€“ June 27, 2024 – On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, nearly 600 seniors from Plainfield High School, Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Applied Studies (PAAAS), and Pinnacle Academy High School gathered at Kean University Alumni Stadium for Plainfield Public School's 154th Graduation Ceremony. The event marked an important milestone in the lives of the graduates, celebrating their achievements and the beginning of their journeys into collegiate careers, new job opportunities, or service to their country.

Superintendent of Schools Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S. delivered inspiring remarks, encouraging the graduates to approach their future endeavors with determination and purpose.

"Today marks a significant milestone in your lives, culminating in years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance," said Superintendent Hasan. "As you stand on the threshold of a new chapter, you are faced with the exciting and sometimes daunting task of making decisions that will shape your future. The choices you make in the coming years will define your path, and it is essential to approach them with thoughtfulness and courage."

Hasan continued, "No journey is without its bumps and detours. Mistakes are not failures; they are opportunities for growth and learning. When you stumble, do not be discouraged. Instead, reflect on what went wrong, learn from the experience, and use that knowledge to make better choices moving forward."

Plainfield Board of Education President Hanae M. Wyatt echoed Hasan's thoughts, emphasizing the importance of community and pride as the graduates move forward.

"As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, let your sense of pride and community inspire you to approach your future with enthusiasm and confidence," said President Wyatt. "Your academic journey has equipped you with knowledge and skills, but your personal journey has taught you resilience, compassion, and self-awareness."

Assistant principals from each school proudly announced the names of the graduates as they crossed the stage, celebrating their individual accomplishments.

"Your unique voice and vision are needed in this world, and through your authenticity, you will make your greatest contributions. Class of 2024, as you leave here today, know that you have the foundation and the potential to achieve great things," concluded Hasan.

Following Superintendent Hasan's acceptance of the Class of 2024, Deputy Superintendent and Chief of School Management, Mark A. Williams, conducted the ceremonial tassel turning, indicating the students' transition from graduates to esteemed alumni.

Coordinated by the Office of Marketing and Communications, the ceremony brought together faculty, staff, students, and their families to commemorate this momentous day.
