EdCellence Award

PLAINFIELD, NJ – July 17, 2024 – The California Association of Black School Educators (CABSE) honored Plainfield Public Schools with the esteemed 2024 CABSE Black EdCellence Award. This award acknowledges the school's dedication to educational excellence and equity within the community. It was presented to exceptional educational institutions across the country and specifically recognizes Plainfield Public Schools' efforts in advancing educational equity for Black students.

“We are grateful and proud that CABSE recognizes our efforts in prioritizing the success of our Black students,” said Superintendent Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S. He continued, “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our educators, staff, students, and community partners who are committed to ensuring that every student achieves their fullest potential.”

CABSE, a nonpartisan organization comprising elected and appointed school officials, administrators, and instructors across California, is dedicated to advancing equity for Black and Brown students. Plainfield Public Schools was awarded during the 4th Annual CABSE Institute Conference in July.

The Black EdCellence Award acknowledges Plainfield Public Schools as a national leader in education, along with other esteemed districts and organizations. Recipients in various categories include Culver City and San Lorenzo Unified School Districts in the Traditional K-12 sector, San Diego City College, and New Designs Charter Schools.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing educational equity and empowering every student to achieve their fullest potential,” said Plainfield Board of Education President Hanae M. Wyatt. “Our dedicated board is just getting started. While we're grateful for the recognition, we will keep working hard until our Black and Brown students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”

The award ceremony celebrates organizations that have demonstrated exceptional achievement in advancing educational outcomes and opportunities for Black students. Plainfield Public Schools stands out for its innovative programs, inclusive educational practices, and dedication to preparing students for success in a diverse and dynamic world.
