PLAINFIELD, NJ – October 31, 2023 – The Plainfield Public School District celebrated a momentous occasion on Monday, October 30, 2023, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate several renovation projects at Hub Stine Sports Complex. The event took place at 4:00 p.m., and it marked the completion of phase one of a significant effort to upgrade the facilities, enhancing athletic opportunities and community engagement.
The renovations, with a total cost of $7,865,775.00, include improvements to several key areas of the Hub Stine Sports Complex.
Hub Stine Fieldhouse (Lower and Upper) Renovation by M&M Construction: $2,270,000.00
Hub Stine Field Toilet Building by Tri-Form Construction: $2,389,000.00
Hub Stine Tennis Court Renovation by Fieldturf: $2,730,014.00
Hub Stine Field Football Field/Track Lighting by Hellas Construction: $476,761.00
The project has transformed the complex into a state-of-the-art facility, which will be a source of pride for Plainfield students, athletes, and the community at large.
During his remarks, Superintendent of Schools, Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S., commented on the renovations saying, “As we continue to, Move Plainfield Public Schools Forward, today, we celebrate phase one of this two-part project of these transformative investments, which will undoubtedly benefit our students, athletes, and the entire Plainfield community for years to come. We are committed to ensuring that our educational facilities are second to none, providing a safe, inspiring, and state-of-the-art environment for our students to excel in both their studies and extracurricular activities”.
"The Hub Stine Sports Complex now stands as a symbol of our commitment to our students and community. These upgrades provide an environment where our students can excel both academically and athletically, and it underscores our dedication to their overall well-being”, added Hanae M. Wyatt, Board President.
Cameron E. Cox, Chief Financial Officer and Board Secretary, equally remarked, "The beauty of the Phase 1 construction and renovation of the Hub Stine Sports Complex, is the Plainfield passion that went into every element of this collective project. Bringing these combined capital improvements together, without a bond or referendum, is a true testament to what we are doing in the district for our students and community. The enhancements not only elevate the aesthetics of the complex but also support our vision for fostering excellence in education and sports within the Plainfield Public Schools.”
A community member who attended the ceremony, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "The revitalization of the Hub Stine Sports Complex is a testament to what we can achieve as a community. These investments will undoubtedly enrich the lives of our children and provide a space where the community can come together".
The renovations at the Hub Stine Sports Complex demonstrate the Plainfield Public School District's commitment to providing quality facilities and opportunities for its students and the local community.
According to the Superintendent of Schools, at the end of the Fall athletic season, Hub Stine Field will begin Phase 2 of the renovation project which includes the addition of a turf field and Wi-Fi access for the districts’ events.
