PLAINFIELD, NJ – September 17, 2024 – On September 11, at the Kean University Education Day Fair, seniors from the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program received an impressive total of $268,000 in scholarship offers, showcasing their hard work and dedication.

Among the standout recipients, Wendy Nkellefack and Adja Tandjigora were awarded full-ride Presidential Scholarships to Livingstone College, amounting to $208,000. This significant accomplishment highlights their academic excellence and commitment to their futures.

In addition, ten other JAG students received instant admission and scholarships totaling $60,000. These students include Jennifer Garrido Polanco, Aileen Guevara-Polanco, Christopher Haynes, Casey Herrera-Raymundo, Melinna Nunez, Michael Perez, Alejandro Quiceno Duque, Jayden Rivas, Ryan Rivas, and Alberto Romero.

Superintendent of Schools Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S. expressed his pride, stating, “This is how we move Plainfield Public Schools forward. This is an example of determination displayed by our students, and we are incredibly proud of our JAG students and their achievements. The scholarships awarded are a testament to their commitment to their education and the support they receive through our programs.”

The JAG program is dedicated to preparing students for success in their post-secondary endeavors, offering valuable resources and support, leading to a productive and rewarding career. The scholarship offers received at the Kean University Education Day Fair reflect the students’ capabilities and the dedication of the JAG program to advancing their growth.

“We are incredibly proud of our JAG seniors for starting the school year with such outstanding achievements, said JAG Specialist Jennifer Bogar Richardson. She continued, “They were prepared before attending the event, and it paid off.”

Superintendent Hasan concluded, “We will continue to provide our students with the necessary tools and opportunities for success in their future endeavors. Investing in our students will only empower them to pursue their academic and career goals.”

Jobs for America’s Graduates is implemented in over 1,500 high schools, alternative schools, community colleges, and middle schools across the United States. This innovative youth program is in its second year at Plainfield High School.
