PLAINFIELD, NJ – September 30, 2024 – Plainfield Public Schools recently celebrated the unveiling of its most anticipated project, the new track and turf field at Hub Stine Sports Complex, in front of dozens of excited community members. This event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing renovation efforts to improve athletic facilities for students and the community.
Phase II of the renovation project includes the installation of the new artificial turf field and track and improvements that provide Wi-Fi access for district events. This groundbreaking ceremony completes the second phase of a comprehensive upgrade designed to support the growing needs of Plainfield's athletic programs.
Following the grand opening, the Plainfield Cardinals showcased their spirit by defeating the Perth Amboy Panthers with a score of 41-0 that evening.
While Plainfield Public Schools has officially cut the ribbon on the 78,000-square-foot turf field, work on the new track is still underway. The track requires two additional layers of stenciling to finalize the lane markings, and district branding is being added as part of the finishing touches. The district anticipates completing these enhancements by October 7, allowing community access at that time.
Until the final touches are complete, Hub Stine Sports Complex will remain closed to community members.
Hub Stine Sports Complex is slated for completion on October 7, 2024, for community access.
