Plainfield High School Hosts 2nd Annual Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Initiation and Installation Ceremony

PLAINFIELD, NJ – December 19, 2024 – On Wednesday, December 18, Plainfield High School’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program celebrated its 2nd Annual Initiation and Installation (I&I) Ceremony. This event marked a momentous milestone for students, formally inducting them into the Career Association.

The Career Association, a student-led organization within JAG, allows members to take on leadership roles and build personal and professional growth skills. Students elected new officers to lead the chapter during the ceremony and welcomed new members into the program.

The newly elected chapter officers include Jennifer Garrido Polanco as President, Wendy Nkellefack as VP of Leadership Development, Janell Searless as VP of Career Development, Habiba Ibrahim as VP of Civic Awareness, Margarita Hernandez as VP of Service Learning, Jazlynn Robinson as VP of Social Awareness, Venya Johashen as Secretary/Treasurer, Valeria Moreno Quinteros as Parliamentarian, Yasily Medina as Public Relations Manager, and Brendis Arias and Alejandro Quiceno Duque as Online and Social Media Managers.

Superintendent Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S. delivered an inspiring keynote address, highlighting the significance of the JAG program in shaping students' futures. "The JAG program is more than just a pathway to career readiness; it is a testament to the limitless potential of our students and the opportunities we create when we believe in their dreams and invest in their future," said Superintendent Hasan. He also addressed the inductees, saying, “To our students being inducted this morning, you are stepping into a program that will challenge you, inspire you, and equip you with the tools to succeed in life beyond the classroom.”

In recognition of his support for the JAG program, the students presented Superintendent Hasan with a certificate of appreciation and a JAG Career Association pin, which he proudly pinned to his lapel. The students also honored Elizabeth Filippatos, Ed. D., Chief of Student Services, by presenting her with a certificate and pin in recognition of her unwavering support.

Superintendent Hasan concluded his remarks by expressing his appreciation for the dedicated staff who bring the JAG program to life every day. "Your passion and guidance ensure that our students not only meet but exceed their potential. This is what moving Plainfield Public Schools forward represents."

Plainfield High School’s JAG program continues to empower students, providing them with the tools and experiences to succeed academically and professionally.
