Plainfield Public Schools and Initials Entertainment & Productions Present “That’s Not Kool: Bullies Never Win” – A Must-See Play
PLAINFIELD, NJ – March 26, 2025 – Nearly 600 theatergoers filled the Plainfield High School auditorium on Saturday, March 22, for the highly anticipated stage production of That’s Not Kool: Bullies Never Win. This powerful and thought-provoking drama, a collaboration between Plainfield Public Schools and Initials Entertainment & Productions, took audiences on an emotional journey through the harsh realities of bullying, acceptance, and respect.
Written and produced by Pastor Dr. Michael G. Carr, Sr. of Initials Entertainment & Productions, That’s Not Kool captivated the audience with its raw and honest portrayal of bullying from the perspective of adolescents. Set against the backdrop of Plainfield High School, the play delved deep into the personal experiences of students facing different forms of bullying—whether it’s picking on a peer for wearing the same clothes, outing a student for taking prescription medication, or confronting the struggles of coming out as homosexual.
The performances, led by a talented cast of performers from across New Jersey, along with local talent from Plainfield Public Schools, brought the story to life. The show struck a chord with the audience, leaving them on the edge of their seats as they witnessed the intense emotional toll bullying takes on students.
"That’s Not Kool: Bullies Never Win" is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address bullying in our schools and communities. Pastor Dr. Michael G. Carr, Sr. brought this moving story to Plainfield to inspire action and create awareness around the importance of standing up against bullying and fostering an environment of acceptance.
The play’s impactful scenes ranged from moments of sadness and grief to an overwhelming sense of empowerment as the characters navigated their struggles. The emotional rollercoaster left the audience with a strong sense of urgency, compelling them to reflect on how bullying continues to affect lives every day.
Among the attendees were Plainfield Public Schools Superintendent, Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S., Plainfield Board of Education Commissioners Terence J. Johnson and Dr. Lamont T. Harris. Their presence emphasized the importance of the play’s message and the collective effort to protect students and ensure their well-being.
The performance concluded with a standing ovation, as the audience expressed their admiration for the cast’s remarkable work and the play’s critical message.
That’s Not Kool: Bullies Never Win is a must-see production that shines a light on the devastating impact of bullying while offering a call to action for the community to stand together and make a difference.
