Plainfield Board of Education Approves Appointment of Plainfield High School Principal
PLAINFIELD, NJ – July 1, 2025 – At a Special Meeting on Monday, June 30, the Plainfield Board of Education approved the appointment of Johan Rojas, Ed. D. as the new Principal of Plainfield High School, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Rojas, who has been a dedicated member of the Plainfield Public Schools team for over a decade, previously served as Principal of Evergreen Elementary School since 2023. Before leaving the district in 2017, Dr. Rojas held various leadership positions, including Acting Principal at F.W. Cook Elementary School and Assistant Principal of the ninth grade at Plainfield High School. His extensive experience in education and leadership, paired with his passion for fostering academic success, make him an excellent fit for leading Plainfield High School into its next chapter of growth and achievement.

S. “His leadership, experience, and dedication to our students and community will be invaluable as we continue to move Plainfield Public Schools forward. Dr. Rojas has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, and I am confident he will continue to build on that foundation as Principal of our high school.”
Dr. Rojas expressed his excitement about his new role, stating, “As I transition to my new role as Principal of Plainfield High School, I am filled with renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the journey ahead. My commitment to fostering an environment where students reach their full potential, both academically and personally, remains at the forefront of my mission. At Plainfield High School, we will continue to focus on creating a community where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to achieve greatness. I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, families, and students to ensure we not only meet but exceed the expectations we set for ourselves. Together, we will continue to build a school culture where every student feels empowered to succeed.”
The Board of Education and Superintendent Hasan extended their congratulations to Dr. Rojas on his appointment, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the district and his unwavering dedication to the success of Plainfield’s students.
Dr. Rojas’s appointment is part of the district's ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and improve academic achievement across all schools. His leadership at Plainfield High School will be instrumental in continuing the district's focus on academic excellence and creating a nurturing, supportive environment for all students.
Dr. Rojas holds a Doctorate in Urban Leadership from Kean University.
During the Board meeting, the Plainfield Board of Education approved all agenda items, including the Superintendent’s Evaluation and the appointment of Roberta Shannon as Accounting Manager for the Division of Early Childhood, effective August 2025.
