Plainfield Board of Education Showcases Leadership, Talent, and Innovation at NJSBA Workshop 2025

Atlantic City, NJ – October 24, 2025 – The Plainfield Board of Education, along with district administrators, staff, and student performers, proudly attended the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Workshop 2025 Conference in Atlantic City.

Recognized as the state’s premier training and professional development event for school governance and leadership, the conference provided valuable opportunities for collaboration, learning, and celebration of student excellence.

This year, Plainfield Public Schools was represented across multiple stages and sessions. District Administrators Danielle Mastrogiovanni, Ed. D., Chief of Equity and School Improvement and Tristan Cox, Ed. D., Supervisor of K-12 Social Studies presented on the district’s transformative Outdoor Equity Initiative, highlighting Plainfield’s commitment to expanding equitable access to outdoor learning environments that promote wellness, engagement, and creativity for all students.

Adding to the district’s impressive presence, Superintendent Rashon K. Hasan participated in several high-profile sessions. He joined Christopher Irving, Ed. D., Superintendent of East Orange School District, for an insightful “Board Members to Superintendents” presentation focused on the importance of governance, communication, and trust in sustaining effective leadership teams.

Superintendent Hasan also served on a distinguished panel with Apple and the Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey, discussing how innovation and technology can be leveraged to create equitable, future-ready learning environments.

“Partnerships between boards of education and superintendents are the cornerstone of effective governance,” said Dr. Christopher Irving, Superintendent of East Orange School District. “It was an honor to partner with Superintendent Hasan to demonstrate how alignment, accountability, and shared vision can transform outcomes for students and communities.”

Superintendent Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S., reflected on Plainfield’s strong showing at the conference, noting, “Plainfield continues to be a model for innovation and equity across New Jersey. I am incredibly proud of our board members, administrators, and staff who represented our district with excellence and purpose. Our shared commitment to learning, leadership, and community is what keeps Plainfield moving forward.”

In addition to these leadership sessions, students from the Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies (PAAAS) Piano Studio showcased their incredible musical talent during the conference, offering a memorable performance that highlighted the district’s dedication to arts education and student creativity.

Through the active participation of its Board, administrators, staff, and students, Plainfield Public Schools continues to set the standard for collaborative leadership and educational excellence, honoring tradition while boldly shaping the future of education across New Jersey.
