Plainfield Senior Tylor Hunter Commits to Army West Point on Full Division I Athletic Scholarship
Plainfield Public Schools is proud to announce that standout student-athlete Tylor Hunter will formally sign his National Letter of Intent to attend Army West Point, a prestigious Division I university recognized nationally for its academic rigor and athletic excellence. Tylor will continue his football career while pursuing studies in engineering, one of West Point’s most respected and challenging programs.
Superintendent of Schools Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S., congratulated Tylor on this milestone and stated, "Tylor represents the strength, discipline, and academic excellence that define Plainfield Public Schools. Securing a Division I scholarship to an institution as selective as Army West Point reflects his determination and the commitment he has shown both in the classroom and on the field. We are extremely proud of Tylor and look forward to all he will accomplish."
Plainfield Athletic Assistant Director Corey Tucker shared his admiration for Tylor’s accomplishment and stated, "Plainfield Athletics has been truly blessed to work with Tylor and his family. His signing with Army West Point is a tremendous achievement. Tylor has shown what it means to stay focused and committed, maintaining a 3.7 GPA while being a leader on and off the field. As he pursues a career in engineering, he will be entering one of the strongest engineering education programs in the world. We wish him nothing but the best and look forward to the day he returns to share his journey with the student-athletes who are striving to follow in his footsteps."
Head Football Coach Donald Jones added, "I am proud of Tylor. He trusted us as a staff, and he put in the work both on and off the field. Army West Point is one of the toughest schools to get into. None of this would have been possible without his commitment to excelling in the classroom. This is a major achievement for Tylor, his family, and the Plainfield Public School District. I am extremely proud of him."
Tylor’s mother, Shannon Hunter, shared her pride, stating, "I am so excited for this major accomplishment. Tylor is an extraordinary young man and a child of God. He is inspiring, and it is amazing to see him live out his dream. For West Point to seek him is truly incredible. God has already equipped him with everything he needs to succeed in life, and we are looking forward to great things. I will always be here to support him every step of the way."
Tylor’s father, Carl Hunter, Jr., added, "I am so proud of him. Keep being the young man you are, stay the course, and know that we are proud of you. It is only up from here."
Plainfield Public Schools invites students, staff, families, alumni, and community members to join in celebrating Tylor as he takes this important next step in his academic and athletic journey at one of the nation’s top Division I institutions.
