Dear Parents/Guardians:
Starting February 3, 2024 students who are English language Learners (ELLs) in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade will take the ACCESS for ELLs test. This test is state-mandated and provides a standardized measurement of academic language proficiency throughout the state of New Jersey. Students who qualified for language services, but whose parents opted out of the program, are also required to take the ACCESS for ELLs test each year until they reach an exit score. This information will also allow us to monitor individual student progress on an annual basis.
The ACCESS testing window will be from February 3, 2024 to March 28th, 2024. Group administration of the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking will take place as per grade clusters and tiers according to each school’s testing schedule. All students must take the ACCESS for ELLs in person at their school site.
If you have any questions regarding this test or any other concerns, please contact your child's ESL teacher, or the Office of Bilingual Education, ESL and World Languages.
Thank You,
Miguelina Gil-Landisi, Directora
